There’s an East wind coming – Producing short films in Eastern and Western Europe
According to the Creative Europe MEDIA programme of the European Union, countries throughout Eastern Europe are considered to have a low audiovisual production capacity, which means that the opportunities for film professionals to produce a film are inferior to those working in countries such as France, Germany, Italy or Spain. This has led to a diaspora of film professionals from the East to the West, who have moved elsewhere to increase their job opportunities. Through the personal experiences of the speakers and their expertise, the panel aims to address in more depth the reasons for this professional diaspora and to address the possibilities, especially related to short film production, of working in both the East and the West.

Panelists: Boris Despodov (Arthouse Blockbusters), Boris Hadžija (AVA Film), Dora Nedeczky (Mindwax)
Moderator: Enrico Vannucci (TSFM)

Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Festivals* (*But Were Afraid to Ask)
“Can I send you my film?” “How many people watch the submitted films?” “Do you watch all the films that you receive?” are just three of the many (endless) questions festival programmers hear every time they meet brand new filmmakers at festivals around the globe. Since the short film circuit is the first approach to the wider cinematic universe for many newcomers, year after year, while the professionals asking for a clue change, the questions remain the same, sometimes exasperating the programmers. The panel will address the most popular questions based on personal experiences and little-known anecdotes of the panelists, for an entertaining and humorous insight into the secrets of film festival life.

Panelists: Simone Bardoni (Concorto Film Festival), Anne Gaschütz (Locarno Film Festival, FILMFEST DRESDEN), Inja Korać (Zagreb Film Festival)
Moderator: Enrico Vannucci (TSFM)
